The Adult Performer Advocacy Committee wishes to honor the passing of 26-year-old adult film performer and webcam model Dave Slick, who lost his life this past weekend while attending an adult industry trade show in Chicago.
APAC would like to acknowledge how valued Slick was as a community member and that he was known among his colleagues as earnest, generous, ambitious, and kind.
We ask that the sex working community, as well as the press, respect Slick’s family and friends by giving them the space and time they need to grieve, and please refrain, as much as possible, from speculating about details of his passing.
APAC also kindly reminds its community that mourning, coping, and healing are seldom linear processes. We ask you to be gentle with yourselves, to take space and time as needed, and to lean into the communities to which you belong.
In this difficult time, APAC urges performers to make space for self-care and reach out for professional counseling and support if needed.
